What is the normal frequency for a hospice social worker to visit a client? Twice a month?

Worried, the SW was at my sisters daily the 1st week. She was the one that made sure everything needed was in place and ironing out any bumps.

Then she came once every few days, then she came once a week and called.

My sister was given weeks to live, so this might effect the frequency of visits.

We were instructed to call anytime and she would come out if we needed her.

Remember, if the hospice provider isn't fulfilling their promises, you have every right to fire them and hire a new company if they don't fix the problems or deliver on promises.

The Social Worker that was assigned to us came 1 time a month.
But after a few visits I told her that she really did not need to come. I said if I needed her that I would let the Nurse or the CNA know and they would let her know and we could set up an appointment.
The only member of the Hospice team that is required to visit is the Nurse. (and if necessary the doctor)

When my mother was on hospice care in her Memory Care ALF, I want to say the social worker visited with her at least twice a month, yes. If I remember correctly, the SW would come to the Memory Care ALF and visit with the residents on a regular basis, even if they weren't on her 'schedule'. The residents all congregated (20 or so residents) in the Activity Room, so the SW would come and chat with those who were on hospice. She didn't spend much time with them, just checked in to see how they were doing.

You can always call the hospice company main number and ask, or request a visit from the SW at any time, too.
