Find Care & Housing
You may have better luck with an in home health provider, but you can look into whether the skilled nursing facilities in your area are able to accept respite care clients. We recently had to do this for my FIL and called a number of local skilled nursing facilities. Most of them had a certain amount of time that he would be required to stay, as well as required sign offs from his doctor that he required 24/7 care and negative COVID tests within a certain amount of time prior to his arrival. We had better luck with in home health care with 24/7 care providers. In his case most of this was out of pocket either way (the VA covered a certain number of hours a day of respite care and the remainder was out of pocket) and the in home was actually cheaper than the in facility care.

A lot will depend on your full situation and whether he qualifies for respite care from outside agencies and/or hospice care. There are many here who are probably much more well versed in respite care than I am, but may need additional care regarding your particular situation to help.

Good luck!
