Don't know how I'm going to recoup or go forward. I applied for SSDI but was denied. I have clinical depression but apparently still able to function. When are people going to start taking mental health issues as seriously as physical health?
Since she has moved away, I do not go anywhere unless I have to. I have been through menopause so I know this isn't it. I just feel done for. And how does one go to an interview when they feel like this. So, I don't have a choice now. That's all. Just needed to vent.

Mental health issues are equally as serious as physical health. Can you apply again? Some people have to apply three times before being accepted into the program.

Vent all you like. We are here for you. I am so sorry for your struggles. It’s tough. It really is.

You likely neglected yourself (seems many of us do).

You're right..it seems people don't take mental health as seriously.   A dr should prescribe something to help you.  If you can't afford a dr., Google sliding scale clinics, mental health clinics in your area or your local health department who may have help or refer you to help so you can get a prescription and a specialist to talk to.  It'll be hard to make yourself go at all (I know), but making that connection may be your lifeline to at least begin to feel some better.  Of course, like NeedHelpWithMom said, come here to vent, too.  We're all trying to keep it together and help each other to do that.

If it's not long since you applied for SSDI, call an attorney that specializes in disability to help you re-apply before the time to re-apply runs out (otherwise, you have to start over).  The attorney will tell you what's needed to be successful.  They work on contingencies.

Rbuser1, Good for you. I think others hire attorneys, too. It's an appeal, and has to be filed within 60 days I read somewhere or you have to start over.
I know clinical depression is serious so keep posting, venting, ok.  We're here for you.

My wife was told that SSDI people are not doctors. So, writing them in medical terms will not move them. Write them in terms on how your clinical depression affects your every day living in plan language. That helped my wife get approved.

If you're like me, I wait till the crisis is over before I break down. I'm fine going through it, but afterward? Watch out. That's when all hell breaks loose, as in Post Traumatic Stress. DO NOT discount PTSD in your case; it's a terrible illness and one that I went through in 2000 when I found my birth family. On television it's all rainbows & unicorns; but real life is another story entirely. I had such a bad case of PTSD that the doctor was shocked. Finally agreed to take Paxil after having to wear earplugs inside the house due to the startle reflex being so sensitive. It really was horrible, the whole thing. Paxil helped me A LOT. In fact, it was like someone flipped a switch inside my brain, and I got the old me back in pretty short order, thank God.

First look into getting help for the depression and/or PTSD, and then call a SS lawyer who works on contingency. Let him or her tell you how to go about getting approved. I used to work for a personal injury law firm & we had one atty who specialized in SSDI cases and he won like 90% of them.

Wishing you the best of luck and good health moving forward, dear one.
