I'm sorry, I wasn't implying that it was the OP that was unacceptable and ridiculous, Lord no, I meant the treatment of the lady by that doctor was... Just...ugh...

Yeah, I got that much, V.... I'm not upset at the OP, I'm outraged at that poor woman's plight, being in pain, and not getting help with terminal cancer! The OP is awesome to try and do something about it! I'm pissed that some doctor, a person who's supposed to be helping people, would refuse to help this lady because of a lack of money! As if that sorry SOB probably didn't have enough already. That really burned. I have no beef with the op, and am glad that this lady has her in her life.

Barbara you are a smart educated woman Christina is floundering. I think she is terrified of the "system" She does not know that her patient has rights even if she has no money or insurance

Dear Christina.
There is help you just don't know where to look. Sit down take a deep breath or several and make yourself a cup of tea. (I'm English) so coffee if you prefer.
If this lady is terminal with cancer call hospice first thing in the morning. they will get her all the medication and help she needs. It is wonderful that you are able and willing to offer your assistance and I hope you will continue to do so. The hospice team can teach you so much and help greatly in caring for your friend. some of the pain medicines are not very expensive if you don't use anything fancy and hospice will pay for what she needs and help her apply for Medicaid if she needs it. No one should have to die in pain and with help you can prevent that. Do not take no for an answer. You can and are making a difference in this lady's life so never give up. You are a wonderful person

And why do you need to prove she's terminal?

Cristina, that's unacceptable and ridiculous. Any emergency room must treat any patient that comes in. If that woman doesn't have money, call the DSS and get her on medicaid! She can see a doctor and get the help she needs!
