My mother recently had a suprapubic catheter inserted. It clogs frequently even with flushing it a couple times a week and needs changed about every other week.
She tries to drink more water and we have tried cranberry juice, lemonade ect but it still clogs.
Any suggestions would be very appreciated.
Thanks

I would speak to the nurse about this.

My husband had a supra pubic catheter for the last 2 years of his life. He never once had a clog, and only had to have it changed every 4-6 weeks. There is obviously an issue that needs to be addressed by her urologist. Good luck.

We have started flushing my dad’s supra pubic catheter twice a day due to this issue. We got a lot of great troubleshooting advice from the physician assistant at the urology clinic my father is seen at.

Good luck!
