Find Care & Housing
Was the husband receiving any VA benefits at the time of his passing? There’s no set amount we can quote you. You would best off contacting your local veterans affairs office. There is a survivors pension and aid & attendance but there are certain requirements that must be met.

I remember my SIL saying that if BIL died, she was not entitled to his pension. He served 20yrs in the AF.

Like said Aids and Attendance is considered a pension but you have to prove your care is more than your monthly income. You really need to make an appt with your County VA office. Have as much info about the Vet as u can get. Discharge papers being the most important.

But there is also a survivors pension for widows of wartime veterans.....my dad gets a VA pension (not aid & attendance) as a wartime veteran with a service connected disability (he is not retired from the military either) and my mother will get a survivors pension if he dies first.

My Father-in-law got a monthly 30% disability check from the VA because of injuries from a sniper attack during the Korean War. When he died, my mother in law didn't receive any kind of financial aid.
