TIM:

Go to nationalresourcedirectory.gov and search under "financial assistance for caregivers." Do the same with medicare.gov. Money isn't going to fall on your lap, so don't forget to visit your local public assistance and Social Security offices and apply for EVERYTHING. You might find something with the VA.

Good luck my friend, and keep us posted.

In Sc? are you kidding? No all they will tell you is put them in a nursing home. Okay, time to let you all know what I have in the wood works.....
Under a co. I have got to pay for the "rights to the planning for 20 years" For lack of a better term at this moment. And feed back on this would help me a lot. I am trying to get marketed a dementia "Play pin?" we put kids in a play pin right? Well with all of the padding and alarms I will have on this thing.....would this help most of you get your daily chorse done easier knowing your loved one would not be able to get out and get hurt?
That is my plans....Tho you will need a dr. order to get one, and we are having to try and sell it to the insurance co. too, would you find this helpful? I need to know for real.....I am having to pay 695.00 for the rights to this design for 20 years...No one can touch it for up to 20 years...
And as for financial asst. Call the alzhiemers assoc. They will offer even respite care.....Good luck, big hugs, and let me know if you find anything. I need it too.....Their pull ups, extra water bills, extra heat if needed, etc. Is expensive....Not to mention, our time of being a home person more than we were with children. It is hard to get an adult dressed, cleaned up enough to go out, and then they may want to walk, then comes the fight of no sit in the wheel chair....Church? Yeah right. I can not get her moving fast enough....Then she will poop in the middle of the service and smell up the church....That is embarrassing. Yet I need the fellowship. The poor lil dogs are catching heck....My dashound's neck is going to look like a graffe. So sadly, we are all stuck inside....
Good luck and if you find it for all of the usa? let me know please. Tho I have poa and her check of ss goes to "Our" account, that is not enough to help all the time...If the alzhiemers assoc. Takes too long I have to pay a private sitter, I do not have that kind of money...So my daughter is 28 and I am not going to take her youth from her...So I stay home and insist she gets out more. But God love her when she is home? She is worked to death cleaning momma, looking after her, and trying to make sure my mom doesn't try to deworm herself again.
We do have dogs....My mom got into the dewormer and used it as mayonaise.....I took her to the er not sure what they were going to do...
COme to find out? That kind of dewormer is used on humans if they have scabies......LUCK WAS ON MY SIDE...MY ANGELS WORK OVER TIME...
AND THEY ARE EVEN TIRING.....SO LET ME KNOW TOO...HUGS TO YOU CC AKA SHARON

Thanks to all who have given me a clearer picture of what I am facing with Mom. I will check out all the tips and return to give what I have found to be helpful for all of us on this journey.
This is a wonderful time in our lives to learn the lessons we face in life so we can pass it on to others who will take it to a new level.
I have learned much about myself in the past year taking care of my Mom. It has brought on a new meaning to life for me.
Thank You very much for all your responses and time to help me.

Good Day, Tim

Does anyone know where I can get help to complete/submit the VA Aid & Assistance forms? I went to the local office and they provided the forms, but I am overwhelmed by them. I hear that if you fill them out incorrectly -- it can be a nightmare.
