My Mom is receiving homecare and progressing to needing overnight care, I am told that approaching the state Medicaid Office with this objective to keep her out of a facility has been successful. Anyone tried?

You say she is in Independent Living, which is not covered by Medicaid. Colorado Medicaid will pursue the cheapest option. So if they pay a nursing home $200 a day, they would not provide more than that to stay home. You need to know the break-even point for your area.

Mom's case manager encouraged this. She's in her own apartment receiving non medical Medicaid homecare and again my question was for anyone having approached Medicaid with the doctor's order for overnight care included in the waiver continuum of care? Not Medicare short term recovery. Thank you regardless!
