My mom is home bound has been for yrs. I was told she can only get Medicare to pay if she has been in the hospital. But when I got a pamphlet for caring hearts it quotes. Home health care is an option that can be paid for 100% by Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance. Have I been missing something!!!

Thanks for that link, freqflyer. My mother was just released from the hospital yesterday, and when I took her to her primary doctor today the doctor said she would order home health care, including PT, but she didn't know what my mother's Medicare plan would cover. So we're waiting to find that out.

To answer the original poster, I think what you're looking at is long term care, and that is provided by Medicaid (assuming the person is eligible), not Medicare. I know that if my mother is approved for services it will only be for a limited period of time, but any help is better than none, especially right now when she's recovering from an acute episode of congestive heart failure.
