Last week, my husband passed away from complications after a hip break. His Parkinson's was a contributing factor, as he responded so differently to sedation and anesthesia than other people might. The suddenness has rocked our family. Right now, I'm lost and hurting. In time, I'll figure things out. I've taken care of someone from the time I was married, added children and elderly parents, then my husband's health issues arose. It's strange to be caring for just myself.
I've gotten wonderful input and thoughts from you all, and appreciate the support. I started on this forum because of a challenging relationship with my mom, who passed a month ago. You all gave me help in setting boundaries, and accepting the relationship as it was.
I'm going to take a break from the forum - I need to be away from reminders. I hope you all take care of yourselves, hug your loved ones and keep on being the loving caregivers you are. Please do what you think is best this holiday season, not what others thing you should do.
