Wondering if this behavior is just men wanting freedom from social norms, and past a certain age, just don't care anymore. Or is it more a diminished inhibition due to declining health, like perhaps beginnings of dementia or other changes in brain function. My dad had a stroke that resulted in many behaviors like this, but now my father in law is doing it, and as far as I know, he's not declining mentally, except for the typical memory issues we all have. Incontinence does not appear to be the issue. Thanks.

HAHAHAA he has always done it, he was just more discreet in his younger years. The social filters are failing.

They're doing it because: they can, they don't care, they aren't able to break 'other' rules, they want to be naughty, they're lazy, they want someone to notice, they want to get away with something. If it isn't happening in broad daylight in the front yard, just ignore it.

Good heavens, the fashion shows feature women with jeans cut-out around their buttocks and men with cut-outs around their privates. Surely a man answering Nature's Call isn't a big deal is it (TEASE).

it was never a big deal for me either. My experiences with Dad is that he had prostrate issues so he was never "breaking the rules." The prostate issues were occasionally bad enough that when driving he we would have to pull over on the side of the road or pull into a place where there was no one around. The urination urge is strong and comes with little or no warning. Later it pretty much kept him housebound. :(

Unless its a farmer or rancher way the heck out in boonies, it is not nice and I would complain. Maybe he wants to be a cowboy! Get him a rancher hat and stirrups, make his dream come true.....

I think it is no damn big deal either. My Lord, folk get old and the world forgets how much they contributed to make it an ideal place for us. I agree with Samara.

Confusion especially with a stroke or mental declination can cause this. My relative peed in a trash bucket in the board and care. Another relative goes in the shower instead of toilet. They don't know. I asked where are you supposed to go? They pointed to the shower.... :(

IloveMom, I wonder if those male relatives were ever in the military... could be they are reverting back to those times and maybe that is where the guys all went, in the shower.

At least if they go in the shower, you don't have to scrub the floor around the toilet ;)
