Find Care & Housing
Your mother is sleeping so much because her brain is trying to repair itself. How old is your mother? And have her doctors discussed with you what is causing her to have these strokes?

Your mother may be aware of her surroundings when she is awake, but she will be too bone tired to know or care "how she's like." Least of her worries, really, when you think about it. But I'm sure she will feel reassured that you're there with her. Are you able to visit her regularly?
