So after having to deal with grandma talking her diaper off 5 times yesterday and smearing herself with filth, should I stop fighting the diaper fight and give up and let her be without a diaper? I recall that some people do exactly that. I tried it once and she would just pee and poop onto the disposable pad. It ended up being much cleaner than the mess she makes trying to empty out her diaper. Including a couple of times, flinging poop on the carpet. What would have been a 5 minute diaper change ends up being a hour general cleanup of her and the room.

Of course she would still wear a diaper while sitting up and out and about. I'm just considering no diaper while in bed on top of disposable pads.

Is she aware of when she needs to go, especially a bowel movement? Or is the flinging after the fact? Im wondering if you couldn’t get her on a potty chair.

People here have also suggested a suit with a zipper up the back that she couldn’t take off the get at the disposables.

The hospitals and rehab units here use two pads and no diapers. One pad is layed across the bed and the second is layed length wise and drawn up between the legs and left loose. It did make every ones job a little easier.
Diapers were only used if requested by the family.

That’s true. My husband’s aides in rehab do use disposable underwear, but it’s not secured on the sides unless he’s on his way to therapy.

My dads rehab was doing that with cloth pads and he was busily grabbing paper towels to sit on whenever he wanted to get in his wheelchair and roll around. I got tired of finding him in soaking wet pants when I stopped by after work. Don’t like or trust those flat ones with tabs they have. I bring him supplies every few days now. He should be home next week sometime
