I fill a thermos flask of tea every morning which saves time throughout the day running back and forward to the kitchen.
I bought 3 Kylie to protect the mattress and therefore always have a spare one available.
I pop a basic bed pad on top of the Kylie before any clean up sessions.
A urinal with a tube leading to a collection bottle on the floor. This has made passing urine much easier for my Dad and a lot less bother.
No-rinse shower caps for washing Dad’s hair in bed and no-rinse shampoo for washing his hair.
A baby alarm with a monitor to see if he is safe in bed at night.
Use of a hospital bed has made so many things easier.
Large adult wet wipes that go in the microwave to heat up and make clean-ups more comfortable.
Insulated cup with spout.
Waterproof lined disposable wash mitts and no-rinse foam for easy clean-ups.
A ring cushion to take pressure off my Dad’s bottom when sitting for a period of time.
Just a few ideas that have made my life easier.

Wow--congrats! You have thought through a lot. Thank you for sharing!

When I did CG for my FIL I became very versed in making detailed lists. I hated going to the store, coming back and finding out he really wanted just 'one or two more things' and I'd go back.

AND--before I ran any errand for him I'd triple check to make sure he had remembered everything.

One thing I did for daddy was to check out old movies from the library. This was 20 years ago and we didn't have the cable access we have now. He LOVED old movies, westerns, Road Runner cartoons. Having him engrossed in an old movie gave mom or me a couple of hours.

I agree the hospital bed is a lifesaver!

A different perspective - since we are originally from India and my mom has no interest in reading American news, I have printed out tons of articles in our language from online papers and magazines. Mom used to love reading movie gossip as a girl and I have printed out tons of Bollyood nostalgia, Greogry Peck, Audrey Hepburn, Taylor-Burton romance stories in big font....lol....Thank God mom can still read and keep herself occupied for a few hours

Maybe this is less important but now I put my happiness first. If I want to go out for a walk, I make sure mom is being watched and just go. I'm also spending the money on sitters to take a break.

The absolute most helpful thing for my Mom has been Meals On Wheels. Less time/expense in shopping for me, more tasty variety for her. And food that she truly enjoys.

It was also very helpful during Hurricane Season when a named storm was approaching us & Meals on Wheels dropped off a box of non-perishables supplies in case the storm hit here.
We feel less alone knowing that Meals on Wheels is there for her.
