The United Way Helpline, 211, might be able to offer names and phone numbers of agencies that offer temporary shelter. I'm not sure if the Salvation Army does or not, and it might also depend on what facilities they have in the area.

Grace Centers of Hope is one in our area, but I don't know without research if they're national or not.

The police department probably would be able to advise where shelter can be found as well.

Are you also working on plans for longer term shelter? You could ask that question as well when you call various places.

Good luck - I hope you find something quickly. This is not the time of year to be outdoors overnight.

Jake, your profile states that you also live in Columbus, Indiana. Couldn't your father stay with you?

i stay in another county and my father up to this point for several years lived with his companion. they lived at my dads old place for 10 yrs and just in the past16-18 month have moved into columbus in her home. she is much older and is stricken with dementia among other medical issues. with out my fathers assistance she would have already been placed in a nursing home. her family seems only to be interested in their personal gain and not the quality of life for their loved one, so they have shunned my father and made life quite difficult at times. it seems like things have come to a head and the family has got their wish and my dad has excepted the fact he must find his own place to live since his other home i mentioned earlier was sold or whatever years ago. his disability is less than $800 a month and a whopping $9.00 a month food card, he is living hand to mouth. i will make the necessary phone calls in the morning (i.e 211) as well as any other helpful tips ya'll have blessed us with. as for tonight he is at his younger sisters in same county. thanks so much for your help and concerns.
